Pretties
Don’t you love it when you have a pile of fabric still full of potential to be anything.
This particular pile will be attending DragonCon in September. So shiny!
I love sewing!
Obsession
Why would someone who doesn’t knit, who lives in a state where winter is two weeks long and honestly wears socks only on occasion, need this particular toy?
I started reading about vintage knitting machines about a year ago. And became obsessed.
I say obsessed because I there is really no reason I need this. I don’t have time to do all the hobbies I have now.
I gave up ‘vidding’ a few years ago to give me more time and space for sewing/embroidery. I hardly read fiction anymore.
The truth is I live and breathe sewing (with breaks to ride my motorcycle with the HHB)
But the more I read online about what a challenge these fussy old machines can be, the more I wanted one.
I’m not the only one, I read blog after blog about how someone found one at a garage sale or on craigslist and were now so excited/frustrated. Of course, most of those blogs have 4 or 5 posts and nothing else is ever mentioned about it.
Well, don’t count on any knitting machine posts for a while. I’ve got three costumes due for MetroCon in two weeks and 4 more before DragonCon. The learning curve on this pristine Brother KH-800 circa 1971 is going to have to wait a while.
Btw, I’ll be hosting the Runway panel at MetroCon along with my minions. Wish us luck corralling the costumers.
